My Approach
My role as a therapist is to guide, support and challenge you in your personal growth and healing. My style is warm and collaborative and I work to create a safe environment that honors connection and vulnerability. I often see folks who are working through transitions, experiencing depression or anxiety, are coping with the impact of trauma, or are generally feeling stuck and want to grow.
My work with clients is grounded in a relational and multicultural approach that incorporates trauma-informed principles, Buddhist psychology, as well as mindfulness and neurobiology. Clients have described me as easy to approach, down to earth, transparent, and funny.
Areas of Expertise
Trauma-Informed Care
My approach to therapy acknowledges the widespread impact of trauma in our world, in our systems and institutions, and in our individual experiences. My work incorporates being able to recognize the symptoms and impacts of trauma and utilizes multiple pathways to healing.
Substance Use and Harm Reduction
My approach to substance use incorporates a spectrum of strategies from safer use - to managed use - to abstinence. I have worked with clients seeking full recovery as well as folks wishing to moderate their use; my goal is to work together with you to identify and pursue your ideal relationship with substances.
Couples Therapy
Relating well with your partner is a practice that takes care and intention. I work with couples who have a desire to improve their communication, increase safety, better understand their attachment styles and dynamics, and ultimately increase friendship and intimacy.
Fertility & Pregnancy
Fertility challenges are emotionally painful, physically exhausting, and financially taxing. Receiving support is crucial to staying grounded in your goals and gaining clarity as you move through the process.
Life Transitions/Grief & Loss
Life certainly has the ability to throw some curve-balls, right? Whether you are working through an expected change or a sudden loss, navigating new territory brings up a lot of feelings.
About Me
I am completely honored to have the opportunity to work with people as they navigate some of life’s most challenging experiences and seek healing in their lives.
I attended the Masters of Science of Social Work program at UT Austin and completed my LCSW clinical training at UT Austin's Counseling and Mental Health Center, where I worked for 6 years specializing in trauma-informed care as well as substance use. Prior to embarking on a career as a therapist, I attended the LBJ School of Public Affairs, where I studied social policy, affordable housing, and homelessness. Social justice is an important value I work to maintain in my life and I am dedicated to my own process in understanding how my identities shape my worldview and impact my personal and professional relationships.
Outside of my clinical work, I love spending time with my family, gardening, working on home improvement projects, traveling, writing, and hiking/backpacking. I am a native Austinite that loves to spend time exploring the Hill Country, listening to live music, and relaxing with friends and family.
